WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A new initiative is helping parents and communities combat bullying.
Lee Hirsch, director of the film "Bully," announced the initiative on Wednesday. His film follows a seventh grader named Alex for an entire year of his life, showing what he goes through at his school in Iowa. The film reached almost 1.8 million kids, surpassing the goal of 1 million.
The initiative begins with team building among the adults in the building and how that can improve and impact school culture and climate. Then educators use a kit that serves as a guide to make a difference.
The idea is that anyone, the bus driver or band teacher, can be the catalyst for change.
