GAITHERSBURG, Md.(WUSA9) -- A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injures when he was struck by a school bus on Tuesday, police say.

Montgomery County Police said the victim, 42-year-old Jason Alexander Estabrook of Point of Rocks, Md., was struck onDarnestown Road and Shady Grove Road at about 2:30 p.m. and was transported to a local hospital.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the accident, police said.

School officials said the bushad finished its route for Wootton High School students and was heading to pick up students at Frost Middle.

A reconstruction team is investigating the collision but police said the pedestrian was 'in the vicinity' of the crosswalk.

On Tuesday, police reported that Estabrook succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
