DOSWELL, Va. (WUSA9) -- Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev is reportedlyburied at a cemetery in Doswell, Va., according to the Boston Globe.
Tsarnaev was killed in a shootout with police days after the blast. Earlier this week, USA TODAY reported that he had been buried at an undisclosed location on Thursday.
"As a result of our public appeal for help, a courageous and compassionate individual came forward to provide the assistance needed to properly bury the deceased," Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst told USA TODAY.
USA TODAY reported that someMassachusetts graveyards had refused to take Tsarnaev's body.
Friday morning, the Boston Globe reported that "Tsarnaev's remains are interred at the Al-Barzakh Cemetery, the first Muslim cemetery in central Virginia, according to two sources briefed on the situation." The Associated Press reported that his uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, said that the body was buried in the cemetery with "the help of a 'faith coalition.'" The uncle reportedly said he was relieved that someone took his nephew's remains, saying a "corpse must be in the soil."
TamerlanTsarnaevand his brother are accused of planting the bombs that exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15. Three people died in the blasts andmore than 200 were wounded.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is being held on charged that could bring the death penalty.
