WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- An elephant in need of more elephant companionsis coming to Smithsonian's National Zoo.Zoo officials sayBozie, a 37-year-old female Asian elephant, will join the Washington herd.

Boziewill be on loan from the Baton Rouge Zoo, say officials. We are told her last companion at the Baton Rouge Zoo died in March. Elephants are social speciesandthe zoos are working together to get Bozie with other Asian elephants, according to officials.

At the National Zoo, Bozie will go into quarantine for a minimum of 30 days, per standard procedure, then she will be introduced to elephants Ambika, Shanthi and Kandula, say officials.

Officials say Bozie was born in the wild around June 1975 and came to theU.S. fromSri Lanka in November1976.
