BRISTOW, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Lexington County Sheriff's Department in South Carolinasays authoritiesfrom the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia helped them with a bomb threat investigation this week.
According to the sheriff's department on Facebook, theydeveloped information that led to the arrest of 20-year-oldTyler Heringon Tuesday in Bristow, Va.
Hering is accused of randomly selecting White Knoll High Schoolnear Lexington, SCand calling ina bomb threat on Monday, according to authorities.
Prince William Countypolice executed a search warrant at Hering's home in Bristow on Tuesday, say SC authorities, and they developed probable cause to arrest him on acharge in Virginia of communicating a threat to bomb a place of assembly or building.
Authorities say Hering was being held without bond on Wednesday at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center. They add that hewill not face charges in Lexington County because Hering communicated the bomb threat from his home in Virginia.
According to authorities, Hering does not have any established ties to White Knoll High School, anyone in the Lexington community or any other community in South Carolina.
A search of the school did not find any items that posed a threat to students, faculty or staff, say authorities.
