WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- You may have to wait a little while longer to get your tax refund from IRS this year. This year's tax season got off to a delayed start because Congress didn't agree on a number of tax rules until the very last minute.

Our partners at USA Today report that the IRS is still running behind last year's pace of processing returns, but it's working on it.

In case you are wondering, the average refund this year is $2,827-- down slightly from $2,860 last year.

If you're one of the thousands of proscrastinators this tax season, then you might want to check out advice from Sandra Block from Kiplinger's Personal Finance in the video above.
