WASHINGTON (AP) - Fines for traffic offenses in Washington are about to drop.
WTOP-FM reports that starting Monday, fines for speeding will drop across the board. The fine for driving 11 to 15 mph over the speed limit will decrease by $8, from $100 to $92. The fine for exceeding the limit by 16 to 20 mph will go down from $150 to $100.
WTOP reports that 99 percent of speed camera tickets in DC the past two years fell into one of those categories.
The biggest drop will be for failing to stop for a pedestrian, with the fine going from $250 to $75. Several other offenses will see fines cut in half, from $100 to $50.
