WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A teacher's assistant is accused of assaulting two students at Beville Middle School, say Prince William County Police.
Last Thursday, police say detectives were called to investigate a reported assault at Beville Middle School on Dale Boulevard in Woodbridge. The detectives found that 69-year-old Shirley Whitfield of Woodbridge, who is a teacher's assistant at the school, had assaulted a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy.
Police say school staff reported the incident to Child Protective Services, which prompted the police investigation.
According to police, the students suffered minor injuries.
Whitfield is charged with two counts of assault & battery and has been released on a court summons, say police.
