STAFFORD, Va. (WUSA) -- Two people were injured after a Piper plane crashed early Sunday near the Stafford Regional Airport.

FAA officials say the plane crashed in a field some 4 miles southeast of the airport around 7:00am.

Local law enforcement officials say two people were transported to the Mary Washington Hospital but their conditions were not described.

Thecause ofthe crash is being investigated.
