CLINTON, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County Police arrested a teen who attempted to steal an off-duty officer's family car and was shot at on Friday, police say.

On Saturday, police apprehended 19-year-old Demetrice Littles when went to a local hospital to get treatment for a gunshot wound, police said.

Littles was wanted for attempting to steal a vehicle from the 5000 block of Vienna Drive on Friday at about 8:20 a.m. The homeowner, which happened to be an off-duty D.C. police officer, saw the suspect enter the family car and orders him out of the car, police said.

According to police, the officer's 9-year-old daughter was in the car but managed to safely get out before Littles took off.

The officer fired his gun several times when Littles began driving across the front lawn towards the officer, police said.

Police said Littles was able to drive away but crashed a short distance away and ran on foot.

Little is charged with first degree assault, kidnapping, abduction, auto theft and related charges. He is being held on a $300,000 bond.
