TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WUSA9) -- A one-year-old boy died after being struck by a car on Thursday at about 5 p.m.

Two adults were walking on the sidewalk with their toddler in a stroller in the 5100 block of St. Bamabas Road in Temple Hills when a car left the roadway and struck the father and child, Prince George's County Fire Dept. spokesperson Mark Brady said.

The one-year-old boy, who was later identified as Sherrik Farmer of Oxon Hill,was critically injured and transported to a local trauma center where he later died. His fathersuffered serious injuries to his lower extremities but is expected to survive, Brady said.

The child's mother was not hit but is being treated for shock.

The driver of the pick-up truck stayed on the scene as was cooperating, Prince George's County Police said.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident.
