SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) - A man who was struck by a car in Silver Spring Thursday morning has suffered apparent life-threatening injuries, police say.

At 9:31 a.m. a call was received about a pedestrian being struck at Colesville Road and Noyes Drive. Authorities responded to the call and transported the victim to the hospital.

The striking vehicle stayed on the scene after hitting the victim.

According to police, preliminary investigation reveals that a silver 2005 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Colesville Road when it struck a 75-year-old man walking across Colesville Road.

The pedestrian has been identified by police as John Skelton Williamsof the 9000 block of Sligo Creek Parkway in Silver Spring.

Police say the driver of the car has been identified Dennis Stewart, 49, of the 9000 block of Belwart Way in Columbia.

Investigation remains ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone who has information about this collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
