SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- A woman had to be extracted from her car after a large tree fell on it, the Montgomery County Fire spokesperson said.

When Fire and EMS crews arrived at the 2900 block of Newcastle Ave., at about 3:05 pm. on Wednesday and found the tree on top of the two-door SUV, the spokesperson said.

A couple were inside the SUV when the tree toppled on it. The husband was able to get out but crews extracted the woman, who was transported to a local hospital for precautionarymeasures.

Montgomery County Police said Newcastle Ave. was shut down while Pepco crews work the scene the tree brought down power lines
