WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- We expect long lines at the airport, but if Congress doesn't come up with a budget plan, we are in for longer lines and major delays at the airport beginning March 1.
USA TODAY Transportation Reporter, Bart Jansen, joined Monika Samtani on Thursday to discuss the major delays we should expect if sequestration takes place.
If you're fyling through big cities like Chicago, Atlanta, and New York, officials say you should add 90 minutes to your flight time says Jansen.
Air traffic controllers are expected to be furloughed, which is the reason behind all these delays and the closures of the smaller airports.
There will also be furloughs of security officers at the airport, which will impact your air travel.
If sequestration happens, the real effects of these government furloughs should begin in April.
