Manassas, Md. (WUSA) -- Officials arrested a man who nearly hit an officer with his car while attempting to flee a Home Depot.

Officials say that police responded to shoplifting at a Home Depot located in Manassas. They say employees witnessed Frye opening packages of batteries and taking them.

Officials report that officers spotted Frye leaving the store. He was able to get into his car before officers got a hold of him. As Frye drove away he nearly hit one of the officers.

Frye stopped the vehicle in the University Blvd. and Wellington road area, and police took him into custody with no further problems.

No injuries have been reported. A trial date and bail has not been set.
