WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A man was hit by a train at Gallery Place Metro Station in D.C. and died from his injuries on Wednesday morning.

Metro officials confirm that the man intentionally placed himself in front of an oncoming train at approximately 8 a.m.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Metro restored normal service to the Yellow and Green Lines but there will continue to be some delays for the next half hour.
