DC Fire Battalion Chief Brian Lee told us that the fire started at 5825 Field Place and then spread to an adjoining structure. The fire was so intense that firefighters were ordered outside to fight the fire. Lee also said that there was a collapse in the structure where the fire originated.

After the fire was extinguished firefighters remained on the scene in case a fire rekindled. At 11:46 a.m., they were still on the scene.

A Metropolitan Police Department tweet stated that the two-story house was abandoned and that no one was injured.
