CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA) -- A $25,000 reward has been set up for any information leading to who ever killed an elderly Capitol Heights woman.

She was attacked in her home located in the 1200 block of Chapel Oaks Drive Saturday afternoon.

Detectives canvassed the area, passing out flyers looking for answers in the murder of 71-year-old Geraldine Joyce McIntyre.

Police got a call for a welfare check around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon and discovered McIntyre suffering from upper body trauma.

She later died at the hospital.

Neighbors say there have been several recent home break-ins but police won't say if robbery is what lead up to the woman's murder.

Neighbors say McIntyre lived with her disabled daughter who is in the hospital.
