Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Kendall Anthony scored 16 points off the bench as the Richmond Spiders held on for a 73-71 win over the Xavier Musketeers in Atlantic 10 conference action at the Robins Center.
Darien Brothers and Alonzo Ododa-Nelson each added 13 points, Cedric Lindsay had 12 and Greg Robbins contributed 10 points and seven assists for Richmond (14-9, 4-4 A-10) which had lost back-to-back games entering play.
Travis Taylor had 25 points and eight rebounds, Semaj Christon added 15 points and Isaiah Philmore tacked on 10 off the bench for Xavier (12-10, 5-3) which has lost three of its last four.
Both teams shot well in the first half. The Spiders hit on 52.2 percent of its shots which was behind the 58.3 percent rate of the Musketeers, but an 18-3 edge from 3-point range gave Richmond a 35-34 lead at the break .
Richmond used an 8-0 run late in the game to turn a three point deficit into a five point lead. The Spiders would have their lead cut to one point three times in the final 10 seconds but held on for the win.
In the game the Spiders outscored the Musketeers both from the free-throw line (25-20) and from beyond the arc (24-9). Richmond is 13-1 at the Robins Center this season.
