COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County Police are investigating two separate robberies in College Park on Sunday.
The first incident took place at 3 a.m. Shanghai Café, located at 7409 Baltimore Avenue. Police say three men approached a University of Maryland student outside of the cafe and hit him with metal knuckles. They took his wallet and iPhone before fleeing on foot. The victim suffered minor injures and refused to be transported to the hospital.
The men, who were armed also armed with a knife, were arrested shortly after by an officer who was patrolling the area. Benjamin Chicas, 15; Samuel Israel Chicas, 17; and Edgar Umberto Hernandez, 20; are all charged with armed robbery, first degree assault, and related charges, police say.
Later that day, a man armed with a gun entered The Varsity, located at 8150 Baltimore Ave., and demanded the laptop from a potential victim. The victim refused and began to scuffle with the suspect, who then fled the scene, police say.
Prince George's County Police and the University of Maryland Police were on the scene investigating this incident.
