Neither side could gain much of an advantage in the opening half, but the Bulldogs outscored LSU, 20-12, in the paint to take a narrow 33-29 lead into the intermission.
The contest remained close in the second stanza and LSU's Andre Stringer tied the score up at 54 with 4:41 left in regulation by making the back end of a trip to the charity stripe. Georgia took over from there as it produced an 11-2 run down the stretch to go up by nine and notch its first SEC win of the season.
The Tigers lost despite owning a 38-29 edge in the rebounding battle due to their 36 percent shooting from the floor. Georgia knocked down 46.8 percent of its field goal tries in the contest.
