Bozeman, MT (Sports Network) - Flavien Davis scored 16 points and brought down five rebounds as the Montana State Bobcats outlasted the Portland State Vikings, 62-59, in Big Sky action at Worthington Arena.
Christian Moon added 15 points and Paul Egwuonwu tallied 14 points and seven rebounds for Montana State (4-8, 1-2 Big Sky) which earned its first win in league play.
Lateef McMullan and Aaron Moore each scored 17 points for Portland State (3-7, 1-2) with Moore also collecting 12 rebounds.
In the first half Montana State shot 52.2 percent from the field, including 4- of-11 from beyond the arc, to take a 29-22 lead at the break. The Vikings lagged behind by shooting just 37.0 percent in the first 20 minutes.
After trailing by as many as 14 points in the second half, Portland State used a 15-1 run to tie the game at 53-53 with 3:05 remaining. However Montana State scored eight straight from there and held on in the final seconds.
Portland State kept itself alive with an 18-4 edge in second chance points. Montana State outscored the Vikings in points off turnovers (19-14) and points in the paint (24-18).
