Washington (WUSA) -- The new year means new higher rates on the Dulles Toll Road.
Tolls went up by a quarter on January 1st. That brings the rate to a $1.75 for a standard two axle vehicle. Next year, the charge at the main toll plaza will jump another 75 cents.
Tolls are also up by a quarter at the on and off ramps -- bringing them to a dollar apiece. A one-way trip on the toll road is now $2.75, or a total of $1,430 a year.
This will help pay for the $6 billion new Silver Metrorail line in the Dulles Corridor.
