WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Metro Transit Police released the photos of the four suspects wanted for stabbing and hitting two women on New Year's Day.

At about 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, a Metro bus driver was en route to Congress Heights when he heard an argument. The driver stopped the bus on MLK Jr. Ave. and W Street in Southeast when a woman came running forward with lacerations to her chest and right shoulder. Another woman tried to intervene during the argument and was struck in the head and back, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said.

EMS responded to the scene and determined that the victim was stabbed and transported both women to the hospital. Witnesses saw the male suspect flee the scene on foot, Stessel said.

Metro Transit Police believe the suspects boarded the bus in the area of 18th and Columbia Road NW in Adams Morgan. The surveillance video shows that once the bus arrived at 8th and G streets SE, two female passengers boarded the bus and became involved in a verbal argument with one of the suspects. The argument escalated into a physical altercation between the suspects and the two female passengers.

Metro Transit Police describe the suspect as:
