GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) - An elderly woman is dead and two other people were injured in a fire at a townhouse in Greenbelt on Friday night, according to Prince George's County Fire Dept.

On Sunday, the deceased was identified as 86-year-old Betty Starry, however, the circumstances surrounding the blaze is still under investigation.

Firefighters responded to the fire at the townhouse at 2 Court of Laurel Hill Rd. on Friday at about 9 p.m., where at least one person was initially reported to be trapped. The person was removed and treated by EMS. Fire was reportedly burning though the roof.

Neighbors said they saw one of the residents jump out of the second floor window. It is said that the elderly woman ran out of the house and later went back in but never made it out, officials said.

Firefighters and Greenbelt Police are investigating the cause of the fire and estimating the damage it caused. The cause of the fire is not known. The identities of the injured man and woman have not been released.

Officials say the two people who escaped the fire had serious, but not life threatening injuries.
