LAUREL, Md. (WUSA) -- Officials say a 15-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car early Thursday morning in front of Bob Evans Restaurant on Rt. 198 at Russett Green E. in Maryland City.
According to officials, Jaelin D. Ashe, 15, of Carriage Walk Lane, Laurel, Md was apparently crossing at the intersection against a pedestrian traffic signal.
He was then struck by a Camaro that had a green light. The driver, identified by police officials asAbraham M. Evans, 32, of Laurel, remained on the scene. 9News' Scott Broom reports that the driver has not been charged.
Anne Arundel County Officials were alerted of the crash around 6:05 a.m., and quickly responded to the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital in Prince George's County with life threatening injuries, and later died.
All eastbound lanes on Rt. 198 in Laurel, Md. have reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
