WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) --If you are taking regular medications, you may want to do some research before consuming grapefruit.

A Canadian research group which first discovered the negative reactions between certain drugs and grapefruit now say that more medications are dangerous if taken whileconsumingthe popular fruit.

Now more than 85 drugs are known to interact with grapefruit. Interactions with 43 of those drugs can lead to serious adverse effects.

The study published in the November 26th edition of the Canadian Medical Association Journal suggests that older patients are the most vulnerable to the adverse effects of the grapefruit/drug interactions.
