NEW YORK, NY (WUSA) -- I think light shows are pretty cool, but you know what I think is cooler?A massive light show coming from the Empire State Building in New York coordinated to the tune of Alicia Keys singing "Empire State of Mind" to introduce the world to the State Building's new, one-of-a-kind LED tower lights.
Yeah...that's definitely cooler.
Monday night in Manhattan, the Empire State Building put on an LED tower light show from the landmark. That alone probably would have been innovative enough, but the Empire State Building went a step further teaming up with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment and singing sensation Alicia Keys to actually synchronize the light show with live, on-air radio play of Keys' "Girl on Fire" and "Empire State of Mind" all over New York City.
"The Empire State Building has always been a symbol of what's possible in New York, and all the dreams that can come true in this city that never sleeps," Keys said before the show. "I'm so excited to unveil the new tower lights that are going to illuminate the city below like never before-shining bright with inspiration. As a proud New Yorker, I'm so honored and humbled to be a little part of its history."
The lighting system, developed by Philips Color Kinetics, allows "customized light capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors in limitless combinations along with effects previously not possible such as ripples, cross-fades, sparkles, chasers, sweeps, strobes and bursts."

My question is this: Any chance we can get one of those down here in D.C.?
