WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Whether you're shopping, traveling or looking for a hotel during the holidays, Consumer Reports says some companies make life a lot easier.

Others do not, that's why the non-profit has complied its annual "Naughty and Nice" list.

"It's looking at company policies, and in some cases, practices to see if we like them or not, based on how consumer friendly they are," says Tod Marks.

Nordstrom lands on the Nice list. Their site offers free shipping and free returns on orders of every size.

Kohl's "no questions asked, hassle free" returns policy online and in store is something many of its competitors do not offer. And, it applies to all purchases with no time restrictions.

But, other companies' return policies aren't so nice.

Tiger Direct has a laundry list of conditions you must meet. If you don't, "They can hit you with a restocking fee up to 25 percent. That's more than most other companies charge," Marks says.

Two airlines landed on the Naughty list including Delta.

Marks says, "When I bought a round-trip $248 non-refundable fare, Delta offered me a chance for "peace of mind" to upgrade to a refundable fare for $737, nearly triple that of my original fare."

Spirit Airlines offers low fares, but if your carry-on bag won't fit under the seat, you'll get charged as much as $100.

Looking for a place to stay, the moderately priced Drury Hotels are pretty Nice indeed.

"Drury Hotels really live up to their motto, the extras aren't extra."

Those free extras include hot food day and night and free Wi-Fi.

And, Home Depot made the "Nice list, too. They will haul away your old appliances and set u a new one.
