WESTMINSTER, Md. (WUSA) -- 13 seconds: The time it took for Westminster quarterback Deryk Kern to throw for his first of six touchdowns during Friday's 4A North Region final in Westminster.

Nine: The amount of touch downs Kern accounted for during the game -- 6 passing, 3 rushing.

60: The new Maryland state record for touchdown passes set by none other than Deryk Kern.

62: The amount of points the Westminster Owls were able to put up on a stingy Warriors defense that hasn't allowed more then 28 points against them all season. There wasn't much that wasn't clicking for the Owls on offense, as they produced their best offensive performance of the season.

In a 62-28 routing of the Sherwood Warriors, the Owls will advance to the Maryland state semifinals. Kern went 13 for 19, throwing for 308 yards. Only a performance of this magnitude would overshadow a night where the running back goes for 206 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns. That's exactly what senior running back Dan Johnson was able to do on the ground, adding to the Owls' balanced attack.

"I think they got the whole package. I think they play the offense and defense as hard as they're supposed to. I think they beat us at every position. They put us in a different defense where they were able to take care of some of the holes we had," said Sherwood head coach Mike Bonavia.

The Owls took the lead with the first play of the game and never looked back. The 70 yard touchdown pass from Kern to Bradley Metcalf, who had five catches and three touchdowns of his own, to open the game set the tempo for the rest of the evening.

"I think that had a lot to do with the tempo of the game. We designed a little something early just in case. It was a great throw, great catch by Bradley Metcalf and I thought it set a great tempo for the game," said Westminster head coach Brad Wilson.

With the win, the Owls will play Meade next Friday in their quest to the state championship at M&T Bank stadium.
