Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Ella Ellis scored 19 points and blocked three shots as the Army Black Knight defeated the VMI Keydets, 80-74, in the third-place game of the All-Military Classic at McAlister Field House.
Ellis shot 6-of-11 from the floor for Army (1-1). Josh Herbeck scored 11 points and Mo Williams put up 10. Matt Gramling came off the bench and dished out a team-high four assists.
For VMI (0-2), Stan Okoye put up a game-high 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Nick Gore recorded 14 points and eight rebounds, while Phillip Anglade ripped down 14 rebounds.
Army got out to a 46-36 lead after one half thanks to 50 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes. VMI was able to keep the game within striking distance by draining six three-pointers in the half.
The Keydets climbed back in the game after intermission, even bringing their deficit to just one point with under five minutes to play, but the Knight responded with a 6-0 run down the stretch to pull away.
Army held on to win despite shooting just 6-of-24 from three-point range and committing a game-high 16 turnovers.
