LEONARDTOWN, Md. (WUSA) -- A Maryland man has multiple charges against him and two deputies are on leave after a high speed pursuit and officer-involved shooting this weekend.
Saturday night, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office authorities say a deputy saw a GMC Jimmy traveling more than 100 miles per hour on Route 5 in Leonardtown and tried to stop it. The driver of the GMC, however, wouldn't stop and according to authorities, proceeded to driveerratically.
Deputies pursued the driver who they say then tried to ram a marked police vehicle. Two deputies fired their weapons at the GMC, say authorities, and the pursuit ended in the area of Rt. 5 and Charlotte Hall School Rd. in Charlotte Hall.
Deputies arrested 44-year-oldTeddy Natel Ragan Jr. of Mechanicsville and he was charged with:
• Assault First Degree
• Fleeing and Eluding
• Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
• Driving While Impaired by Alcohol
• Reckless Driving
• Speeding (authorities say he was traveling 105 mph in a posted 50 mph zone)
More charges against Ragan are pending.
The deputies involved in the pursuit were placed on routine administrative leave.
