ST. MARY'S COUNTY (WUSA) -- Teddy Natel Ragan Jr., 44 years-old of Mechanicsville, Md., is behind bars after leading police officers on a high-speed chase, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said.
On Nov. 3, at about 5:40 p.m. a deputy with a marked vehicle saw a white GMC Jimmy traveling more than 100 mph on Route 5 in Leonardtown, Md. The deputy attempted to pullover the vehicle but the driver, later identified as Ragan, continued driving at high speeds, the Sheriff's Office said.
Two deputies shot at the GMC when Ragan tried to ram his SUV into a marked police vehicle. The pursuit ended approximately 17 miles away in Charlotte, Md., officials said.
Ragan was taken into custody and is being held on a $45,000 bond.
He is charged with assault first degree, fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, reckless driving, and speeding (105 mph in a 50 mph zone).
