WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- DC Mayor Vincent Gray announced during a conference that he asked President Obama for a federal disaster declaration on Monday.
The assistance would help the district with possible damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. A state of emergency has already a local state of emergency.
Mayor Gray also informed that all DC public schools will be closed on Monday and hopes all charter schools will follow suit.
According to the Pepco regional president, the utility company has requested 3,700 out-of-state workers to assist after the storm.
