UNDATED -- Free sandbags are being distributed the weekend before residents start to feel Hurricane Sandy's impact.
In D.C., residents picked up the storm-ready items at R.F.K. stadium. The Department of Public Works will also give out sandbags at the Takoma Park Recreation Center from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Sunday.
Charles County will continue to distribute free sand and sandbags until its supply runs out. The Department of Emergency Services will be on hand at the Luarel Springs Park in La Plata starting Sunday 9 a.m. There is a limit of 10 bags per person. Officials advise residents to bring a shovel to fill the bags.
