The police investigation revealed that Gordon was inside the church during a home school program. He was participating in an unrelated program at the time and later helped with cleanup, entering a school classroom occupied by seven children. Gordon did not interact with children, only the adult teacher, according to police.

Police were called when Gordon met another church patron in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they confirmed he was a registered sex offender, and as such, is not allowed on school property during school or daycare hours.

Gordon was arrested and charged with sex offenses prohibiting entry onto school or other property. His court date set for January 2, 2013, released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
