(USA Today) - It's wedding bells for Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.
After a 10-month engagement, the pair have tied the knot in Italy, reports People magazine.
"It's great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends," the couple told People in a statement today.
Timberlake, 31, and Biel, 30, didn't reveal more, but People promises to have all the details of the wedding, including exclusive photos, in next week's issue, out Wednesday.
Photos of Timberlake surfaced at a pre-wedding beach bash Wednesday night that included Andy Samberg among the 50 guests in Puglia, Italy.
But other than, it seems Timberlake was able to grant Biel's one wish for her wedding: privacy. "That's all I wish for, whenever it may be, is just privacy," Biel told USA TODAY in August. "That's it. If we can have that, anything else can go wrong. I don't care."
The private couple rarely speak about their relationship to the press, but with movies to promote this fall, they took on a uniform strategy: Be polite, and be vague.
"I'm just enjoying being engaged," Biel told The Chicago Sun-Times while promoting Total Recall in August, adding that she'd done "almost nothing" to plan the big day yet (although she'd been spotted in Paris shopping for wedding dresses as early as April).
Timberlake talked about marriage generally at a press conference for his September baseball film, Trouble With the Curve. "I think it's important to remember that you go into something like marriage knowing that you don't know very much about it at all," Us Weekly reports he told the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "But I do look at the marriage of my mother and stepdad, and what makes it work for them is that it's a team effort."
Sitting down with USA TODAY and her Total Recall co-star, Kate Beckinsale, Biel chatted about weddings and paparazzi (Beckinsale recalled the helicopters that flew overhead during her nuptials to director Len Wiseman). "I'm excited about it," said Biel at the time. But, she added, "I actually never ever in my wildest dreams thought it would ever happen to me. ... I never dreamed about what I would wear, what it would look like or what it would be. Even now I still just feel like, I don't even know when it will ever happen because we're so busy."
But there were some clues the big day was approaching. Just a few weeks ago, Timberlake's bachelor party headed to Las Vegas and Cabo San Lucas, with People.com reporting "tame" club outings and rounds of golf in Mexico.
But the reformed bachelor (who, months shy of his 30th birthday in 2010, told USA TODAY he could "barely take care of myself") allowed himself to gush in public recently.
"She's a really, really, really special person," he told reporters at a press conference last month. "Plus, she's really, really hot!" And when Biel stepped on stage to accept an award for her charitable work at the Variety Power of Women luncheon on Oct. 5, Timberlake was the first out of his chair, whooping and clapping. "Stop it!" Biel laughed from the stage.
Timberlake has even dished how he first asked Biel out. "I did it the old-fashioned way - by telephone," Timberlake told the HFPA. "That's something I learned from both my stepdad and my grandfather - that there is a thing called chivalry and it doesn't have to die with the birth of the Internet. The way I see it, if you're asking a girl out on a date, it's only right to do it in a way that she can hear your voice. I had to be pretty persistent in order to get her to say yes. But I have a fair amount of tenacity, and if I want something, I stick to it. And in the end she agreed."
The pop star turned actor popped the question last December at a luxury Wyoming resort, The Amangani. The Vogue-approved couple (they attended the Met Ball together in 2009, 2010 and 2012) dated for five years but had separated in March 2011, and never publicly confirmed their reconciliation, although the two were spotted together at a number of events throughout last fall.
Initially after their holiday engagement, the couple remained defiantly mute. Biel, who presented at the Golden Globes, left her six-carat engagement ring at home.
But in March she began to wear her huge sparkler publicly, and by August felt comfortable enough to tell InStyle who picked out the pricey bauble: Timberlake. "He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design," she told the magazine. "And I'll be honest: He has better taste than I do!"
Both actors started in the business young. Biel shot to fame as a teen in WB series 7th Heaven and built a film career with movies such as The Illusionst, The A-Team and the upcoming biopic Hitchcock (out Nov. 23). Timberlake began his career on the Mickey Mouse Club, graduated to pop group *NSYNC, and then launched a multi-platinum solo career before venturing into films including The Social Network, Bad Teacher and Friends With Benefits.
Both also dated around Hollywood. Biel dated Derek Jeter, Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans, and Timberlake famously dated Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz and Alyssa Milano.
Biel says kids could be in her future with Timberlake. "Sure, of course," Biel told USA TODAY. "I think probably at some point it would be something I'm interested in. But I don't feel pressured. I was never one of those girls who dreamed of my wedding and my Prince Charming."
But one thing's for sure.
"I answer to a higher power now," Timberlake told reporters last month. "We have a couple of rules in our relationship. The first rule is that I make her feel like she's getting everything. The second rule is that I actually do let her have her way in everything. And, so far, it's working."
