SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WUSA) -- A 21-year-old man accused of stealing motorcycles fled from police on foot and ran to bushes. He was discovered when deputies heard him talking on his cell phone, say Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office authorities.

Thursday morning at 10, deputies received a tip from Stafford Sheriff's Office that a person who had just left with a stolen motorcycle might be in Spotsylvania. Deputies went tothe area of Peach Tree Dr. and Blossom Wood Ct. and saw a man on a motorcycle matching the description they had received Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy tried to stop the motorcycle but ended up having to pursue the man. The man got off the bike and fled on foot to some bushes. He was discovered there after police heard him talking on the phone, according to authorities.

Twenty-one-year-oldHurley Lee Dement of Spotsylvania was taken into custody and charged with possession of Stolen property (for three motorcycles), drivingwhile a license was revoked, operatinga motorcycle without a valid motorcycle license endorsement, fictitious vehicle registration and failure to stop at a stop sign.

He was held without bond.
