SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WUSA) -- A 52-year-old man is dead after he apparently lost control of his motorcycle while passing a school bus and struck a mailbox, say Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. Thursday, deputies arrived at the 2300 block of Mt. Olive Rd for a report of a single motorcycle crash.

They found William Lee Arrington of Manassas, Va. dead at the scene.

Authorities say they are exploring the possibility that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

They continue to investigate.
