WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Two nights ago, we watched President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney go battle it out in one of the most heated debates in modern presidential history. They'll be back at it again today in the swing state of Virginia, also nicknamed the "Mother of Presidents." President Obama will be campaigning at George Mason University while Mitt Romney will be in Abingdon.

But last night, they were friendly and funny. Romney made fun of his stiff persona while the President poked at his poor performance during the first debate, which was also his wedding anniversary. He said, "There are worse things that can happen to you on your anniversary than forgetting to buy a gift."

The Al Smith dinner has been a traditional stop for presidential candidates ever since World War II. It is a fancy affair in midtown Manhattan, and both candidates were wearing white ties and tails, something that Romney said made him quite comfortable.

"It's nice to finally relax and wear what Anne and I wear around the house," joked Romney.

The next time they share the same room will be during their final debate next Monday in Florida.
