TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- A child who was seriously injured after falling 80 feet in from an apartment window is alive and remains in serious condition as of Thursday night, according to Montgomery County Police.
The incident took place on the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road in Takoma Park, at around 3:15 p.m., according to Montgomery County Police spokesman Scott Graham's Twitter feed.
9News' Ken Molestina reported that a branch broke the 4-year-old boys fall from the 9th floor apartment window. It is not known if the child was at home alone at the time he fell.
The 4-year-old boy was taken to Children's Hospital in serious condition, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Police say detectives from the Family Crimes Division and Child Protective Services will investigate the fall. Police are looking into whether the child was at home alone at the time of his fall.
It is not yet known if any charges will be filed in the incident.
