WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The National Park Service is tackling the algae problem at the recently renovated Lincoln memorial reflecting pool.

A large amount of algae covered the water and on Wednesday afternoon, the National Park Service started to drain the reflecting pool to try to get rid of it.

Thursday morning, a 9News crew captured the removal and clean up process. See the photos of that process here.
