WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Wednesday, October 3, 2012 rock and roll star Chubby Checker is 71 years old.

The late Dick Clark once said, "The three most important things that ever happened in the music industry are Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Chubby Checker."

In February, Chubby Checker, who was born Ernest Evans, joined us to mark a special anniversary: the 50th anniversary of "The Twist" going number one on the charts for the second time.
