WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Dupont Circle Metro station has reopened after an escalator outage forced Red Line trains to bypass the station Tuesday morning.
The rain caused problems running the escalators, which have no protective canopy. Metro says only one escalator was working, and when that happens they close the station.
A witness estimated that at one time about 100 people were standing in the pouring rain waiting to walk down a non-working escalator. Metro officials weren't letting the people walk down the escalator at first, but eventually the officials let them walk.
