FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- An armed robbery suspect who ditched his shirt while fleeing police was caught and later confessed to the incident at Hillcrest Skate Park, say Frederick City Police.
According to Frederick City Police, on Monday night a male waswalking through the park when another man approached him, pointing a handgun and asking for money. The victim told police he threw a dollar bill at the other man and then ran. The man picked up the bill and then chased the victim, who fell.
The other man then turned and ran towards Hillcrest Drive, say police.
The man was described as a skinny black male, approximately 18 years old and 5'9" tall with a black shirt and white shorts. At the time of the robbery, his face was partially covered, according to police.
We are told that during the search for the man an officer stopped a manin the area of Hillcrest Drive and Coats Bridge Place who had on light colored shorts and was skinny, but wasn't wearing a shirt. He was identified as Aaron Thomas Mitchell. Police say he talked to detectives at police headquarters and after questioning, he confessed to the robbery.
An officer was able to recover clothing, a handgun, and the dollar bill from the robbery, say police.
Aaron Mitchell, who is 17 years old, was charged as an adult with armed robbery, first degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
