FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Two mosques in Virginia have been vandalized amid angry protests in the Muslim world over a film produced in the United States denigrating the Prophet Muhammad.

Twelve cars surrounding the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church had its windows smashed early Saturday. Fairfax Police do not believe the mosque was targeted due to overseas protests but are still on high alert.

Authorities said more than 25 vehicles have been vandalized in Fairfax County

The Washington Post, reports that on Friday worshipers at the Islamic Center of the Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg arrived at their weekly prayer service to find graffiti on their building.

The Post reports the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling for an FBI investigation into both attacks.
