BRISTOW, Va. (WUSA) -- Police say a man under the influence of tried to break into a home in Bristow and then fled in a vehicle before crashing into another car.
Twenty-five-year-old Joshua Lemar Pendleton of Manassas is charged with attempted burglary, felony eluding, felony hit & run, driving under the influence of drugs and driving on a revoked license after an incident on Wednesday.
Police say at 9:46 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the 13800 block of Tartan Hills Pkwy in Bristow for a suspicious person. The homeowner told officers that someone attempted to kick in the door. The suspect was last seen getting into a vehicle.
An officer located a vehicle matching the description in the area of Tartan Hills Parkway and Sudley Manor Drive and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, however, reportedly ignored the officer and later ran a red light at the intersection of Nokesville Road and Piper Lane before striking another vehicle.
The driver then bailed out of the car and ran. Officers were able to catch the driver in the parking lot of a shopping center nearby.
No injuries were reported from the crash.
Since his arrest Pendleton has been held without bond.
