OXON HILL, Md. (WUSA) -- Cirque du Soleil's latest masterpiece, Totem, premieres Wednesday night and runs through October under the blue-and-yellow big top at The Plateau at National Harbor.
Totem outlines the evolution of mankind inspired by science, and the magical journey through its dreams, infinite potential, and ultimate desire to fly. All 250 costumes are based in nature, handmade, and hand painted for the show.
There are 10 impressive acrobatic acts in Totem including the hand and foot juggling act with "speedy" carpets by identical twins from Belarus, Marina & Svetlana Tsodikova.
Aptly named "crystal ladies, " Marina & Svetlana Tsodikova perform in costumes covered in over 4,000 Swarovski crystals.
This is the Tsodikova twins first Cirque du Soleil show as they created their act while performing with the leading circuses in Europe.
I had the opportunity to meet with them and watch them practice. I was blown away by their difficult performance where all parts of their bodies move simultaneously in unison.
Take a look at backstage PHOTOS and catch a sneak peek of their performance.
