UPDATE August 14: The death of Shavon Phillips has been ruled a homicide by Prince George's County Police.

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (WUSA) -- A bodyfound in a Fort Washington creek has been identified as 22-year-old Shavon Phillips of Southeast Washington, DC, say Prince George's County Police.

Phillips was reported missing on July 30. Her D.C. missing person's report read:

"The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating 22-year-old Shavon L. Phillips, who was last seen on Monday July 30, 2012, leaving from the 400 block of 61st Street NE.

Ms. Phillips is described as a Black female who stands 5'6" tall, weighs 120lbs, and has a medium complexion. Her hair is blonde and black and is worn in a pony tail. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans."

A person found a decomposed body last Wednesday night at approximately 8:30in a creek in the12200 block of Braemer Circle. The body was transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and the identity of the person.

Police classified the case as a suspicious death.The investigation is ongoing.
