WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Books and backpacks plus clothes and shoes minus sales tax equals a holiday most parents can't wait to celebrate.
This is the weekend to stock up in Virginia.
Starting Friday, August 3 through Sunday, August 5, you'll save the four percent sales tax on clothes and shoes that are $100 or less. And, school supplies under $20 are also included.
In Maryland, you get a full week from August 12 through August 18 to save on clothes and shoes.
But, you will have pay taxes on those back to school supplies. They are not included in thetax-free holiday.
